Soils and Foundations

SUBMISSION INFORMATION

  1. Authors must indicate one of the following 5 categories into which manuscripts should be classified:
    (1) Technical Paper (complete paper: papers in a series, such as Part I and Part II, are not acceptable),
    (2) Technical Report (report on design, construction, in-situ measurement etc.),
    (3) Technical Note (short paper etc.),
    (4) Discussion (based on paper published up to 7 months before),
    (5) State-of-the-art Report.

  2. The manuscript of a Technical Paper, Technical Report or Technical Note must be accompanied by a signed statement that its content has not been published previously and that it is not being reviewed for publication by another organization.

  3. The author of a State-of-the-art Report must consult the Editorial Committee before submitting a manuscript.

  4. Manuscripts must be in English, and must be type-written, double-spaced, on A4-size paper (21.5 cm by 28 cm). Each typed page is considered to contain around 250 words (=10 words x 25 rows) and is roughly equivalent to one third of a printed page.

  5. The maximum number of printed pages including tables and illustrations are listed below:

  6. The full name, address and description of the present employment of each author must appear on the first page of the paper.

  7. The author must employ symbols and terminology which are widely accepted in current soil mechanics literature as recommended by the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering.

  8. The SI units will be used as a rule. If conventional units are used, then they must be accompanied by the SI units in parentheses.

  9. A list of references must be arranged in alphabetical order based on the first author's last name. In the text, the authors' last names and the year of publication must be given in parentheses.

  10. All figures and photographs must be completely prepared for printing on a separate sheet. The authors must specify the size of each figure and photograph in the final printed page, selecting either single-column or double-column size in width.

  11. Each Technical Paper, Technical Report or Technical Note should be accompanied by an abstract of approximately 200 words with 5 to 10 key words and 1 to 3 International Geotechnical Classification Numbers.

  12. The text, figures, tables and photographs must be submitted to the following address in quadruplicate (original and three copies).

  13. By submitting a manuscript the authors agree that the copyright for their work is transferred to the Japanese Geotechnical Society, if and when the manuscript is accepted for publication.
