The Department of General Affairs is responsible for all matters relating to General Meetings, the Board of Directors and Public Relations, as well as the budget, the accounts and finances. The following committees are run under the jurisdiction of the General Affairs Department.
In 2007, the 19th Year of the Heisei era, the Committee on Public Information was formed after merging with the former Committee for IT Promotion, which had been operated separately.
For the purpose of fulfilling the social responsibility of the JGS in a reasonable period of time, the Liaison Conference for Disasters makes decisions on initial reactions in the event of a disaster. The conference covers a wide range of disasters which are intrinsically related to the scientific and technical fields that the JGS deals with, as well as those of public concern which the JGS decides to tackle. While the conference deals predominantly with domestic disasters, it may also deal with disasters that occur overseas if it is deemed necessary.
The role of the Election Committee is to ensure the fair and smooth procedure of elections in accordance with the rules and regulations as established by the JGS in order to select the final candidates for the positions of President, Vice President and the Directors, as stipulated by the Articles.
