The role of the Department of International Affairs can be summarizied as follows:

To liaise with the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) to screen papers submitted to the following conferences and committees:

ICSMGE (International Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering)
ARC (Asian Regional Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering)

Technical Committees (TC)

Asian Technical Committees (ATC)

To organize International Conferences/Symposiums held in Japan (the IS-series)
To organize international lectures
To organize joint symposiums/seminars with affiliated societies of the ISSMGE,
To manage the technical transfer through Asian Young Geotechnical Conference (YGEC)
To make nominations for the best paper award for young authors in the ICSMGE
To collaborate on geotechnical seminars held in foreign societies and other important international matters.
